Balsam Mountain Inn, historic Inn nestled in the mountains of North Carolina

Prior to its 1991 restoration, the Balsam Mountain Inn was exclusively a "summer place," with shared baths, no heat and plenty of squeaky double beds. Through the addition of private baths and the combination of smaller rooms into larger suites, the total number of rooms fell from 100 to 50.

There are four different types of rooms. Each of the 50 rooms and suites is delightfully different, which comes as a relief in a world where most of the hotel and motel rooms are identical except for their keys. The rooms at the Balsam Mountain Inn provide little distractions, there are no tv's radios, telephones, or alarm clocks !!! The inn provides a relaxing peaceful environment (alarms are available at the front desk).

Regular Rooms: $145 breakfast included and the 5 day special at $495. These are what you might expect to see in regular Inn room only each is unique in color and furniture. (5 day specials are not available in July or Oct.).
There are 28 standard guest rooms at Balsam, each furnished with either two double beds or a single king-sized bed. Guest rooms offer private baths with either an antique claw-foot bathtub or a shower.

Mini Suites: $165 breakfast included and the 5 day special at $575. These rooms are larger with a sitting area in the room providing alternatives. (5 day specials are not available in July or Oct.).
Balsam's Mini Suites are half way between a standard room and a suite. These rooms are spacious single rooms with beds plus a living or sitting area.

Suites: $195 breakfast included. These rooms each again uniquely different consist of living areas in TWO separate rooms. (5 day specials are not available for these rooms).
Among the inn's most spacious, spectacular and diverse living areas are its suites. Many of the suites are located on the top floor of the inn.

Tower Suites: $229 breakfast included. These rooms among the inn's most spacious, spectacular and diverse living areas. (5 day specials are not available for these rooms).
The inn's most spacious living areas are its two Tower Suites. These suites are located on the top floor of the inn, these accomadations include living rooms in the "towers" on the two front corners of the building's façade.

The Inn's general reservation and rental policies

A confirmed reservation obligates both the Balsam Mountain Inn and the guest for the entire length of the stay reserved. In the event of early departure, the guest is responsible for the entire length of the stay reserved.
Reservations are made by room TYPE. Your specific room will be assigned to you upon your arrival.
5 Day Special is Sunday thru Thursday nights ONLY and does not apply to Holiday weeks. Regular rates will be charged for early departure.
One night’s room rate must be paid within five (5) days of booking to confirm any room reservation. This deposit may be paid by MasterCard, Visa, American Express, or Discover at the time of reservation, or through the mail by personal check or money order.
Individual room reservations need to be cancelled seven (7) days prior arrival date to receive a deposit refund. Groups and events have other cancellation policies.
Reservations of blocks of three or more rooms of Group bookings require special deposit arrangements and cancellation periods.
Add $15.00 per day for each additional person 12 and over.
Children under 12 FREE when staying in same room with parents.
PETS are Welcome - ADD $15.00 for one and $25 for two per night. Max of only TWO pets permitted. PETS MAY NOT be left alone in room without owner or other responsible person.
Large pets and pets of a breed perceived as aggressive may be accepted if it has earned an AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN AWARD. For information go here.
